Opportunities for people working in cities where localized heavy rainfall is frequent are increasing for them to wear rainwear. Teijin Frontier aimed to create "smart working rainwear" that eliminates excess functionality and provides comfortable wear and waterproofing suitable for urban life scenes. To realize this concept, the planning and development of MINOTECH® fabric was carried out with a focus on the "water-repellent function" that allows rainwater to slide off and the "breathable function" that releases moisture that builds up inside the clothing.

PRINCIPAL - Glides water and keeps rain out

MINOTECH® has a unique fabric surface called "Micro Garter Structure," inspired by the structure of a raincoat, which allows water droplets to slide off even on a gentle slope, just like rice leaves repel water, keeping rain away.

Nature's Design - Biomimetics

Living organisms have developed a variety of functions during the course of evolution. In the field of biomimetics, which applies biomimetic technology, one of the targeted functions is high water repellency. The leaf surface of grasses has extremely high water repellency due to its fine convex structure and wax. MINOTECH® was born from the inspiration of the functions and shapes of such natural materials.
