Based in Tuscany, Italy, "Badalassi Carlo" is a world-renowned tannery. We use 'Pueblo leather,' meticulously crafted there using the traditional Vacchetta method, selecting only the shoulder portions of female cattle over two years old.
The Vacchetta method is a traditional Italian technique boasting over a thousand years of history. Without using any chemicals, cowhide is slowly tanned with vegetable tannins, and then high-purity beef tallow is gradually added. This time-consuming and labor-intensive process gives the leather a moist texture and a rich depth of character.
Furthermore, the surface of the oil-rich leather is given a unique brushing treatment with sandpaper and a brass brush, initially resulting in a smooth, matte texture. With use, the color deepens and transforms into a glossy, beautiful sheen.
Oleic acid, the main component of beef tallow that permeates the entire leather, is a natural moisturizing agent also abundant in human sebum. It naturally blends with the leather, protecting it from drying out or losing too much moisture, thus keeping it soft and supple indefinitely.
