We use "Pueblo leather," carefully crafted using the traditional Vachetta method from select shoulder parts of female cows over two years old, from the world-renowned tannery "Badalassi Carlo" based in Tuscany, Italy.
The Vachetta method is an Italian traditional technique with over 1000 years of history. It involves slowly adding highly pure neat's-foot oil to cowhide that has been thoroughly tanned with vegetable tannins, without using any chemicals. This time-consuming and meticulous process gives the leather a moist texture and profound character.
Furthermore, by applying a unique brushing process with sandpaper and a brass brush to the surface of the oil-rich leather, it initially has a smooth, matte texture. As it is used, the color deepens and transforms into a beautiful, glossy sheen.
Oleic acid, the main component of neat's-foot oil, which permeates the entire leather, is a natural moisturizing ingredient also abundant in human sebum. It naturally blends into the leather and protects it from drying out or losing too much moisture, keeping it moist and soft indefinitely.
