南国の豊かな自然と職人の手仕事が融合したこの染色方法は、古くから大島紬などの高級織物にも用いられてきました。
奄美泥染めレザーは、その伝統技法を革素材に応用し、自然の力だけで染め上げられた特別なレザーです。
染色には、テーチ木（シャリンバイ）の枝や葉を煮出して得た天然の染液と、奄美の大地に広がる鉄分を多く含む泥を使用。
革をこの染液と泥に交互に浸し、染めと乾燥を何度も繰り返すことで、深みのある黒褐色が生まれます。
化学染料を一切使わず、自然素材だけで仕上げるため、一枚ごとにわずかに異なる色味や風合いが現れ、世界に二つとない表情を楽しめます。
光の角度によって黒にも茶にも見える奥行きのある色調は、奄美の大地を思わせる落ち着いた美しさ。
使い込むほどに表面が磨かれ、艶と透明感が増していくことで、手に馴染みながら深みを増していきます。
