It's a basic design that highlights the beauty of cordovan.
Shinki Hikaku Cordovan
Shinki Hikaku's Cordovan is made from raw hides transported by sea from Europe, undergoing a long period of maturation and tanning.
It is horse leather created by carefully shaving off the dense fiber layer found only in the hindquarters of horses, from the reverse side, and then spending plenty of time and effort on further maturation and drying, taking a total of 10 months to finish.
It is a high-quality leather known as the "King of Leather" or "Diamond of Leather" due to its distinctive luster and profound texture.
Oil cordovan undergoes a glazing process after being dyed, creating a translucent beauty, luster, and deep color.
The surface subtly reveals the natural texture of the leather, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike.
Please enjoy the aging process with continued use.
Badalassi Carlo Pueblo Leather
Pueblo leather, an Italian leather, is produced using the vachetta method by Badalassi Carlo, a world-renowned tannery in Tuscany, Italy, using the shoulder part of raw hides from female cows aged over two years.
The traditional Italian vachetta method, with over 10 centuries of history, involves vegetable tanning without the use of any chemicals, slowly infusing high-purity "beef tallow" into the cowhide.
High-quality Italian leather infused with oil is brushed with sandpaper and a brass brush.
Initially, it has a smooth, matte texture, but with use, you can enjoy a change to deeper colors and an excellent luster.
Furthermore, due to the oil permeating the entire leather, the surface becomes surprisingly moist and familiar to the touch, protecting the leather from some water and dryness.
This is due to the effect of "oleic acid," the main component of beef tallow.
Oleic acid is resistant to deterioration and less prone to drying, so it maintains an appropriate moisture content within the leather, preventing it from becoming too stiff due to excessive moisture loss.
